About the event

As this academic year draws to a close, join award-winning author and performance poet Sophia Thakur as she guides you and your pupils through an online, pre-recorded workshop. The workshop will be available from Monday 30 June and will focus on the themes of reflection, celebration and aspiration.

Leaving space for pupils to celebrate their achievements and think about their future aspirations is important, especially when they have so many pressures and decisions to make. During this workshop, pupils will practice their speaking and listening skills whilst also participating in reflective writing activities to help them:

  • Reflect on their year at school and what they are proud of
  • Celebrate their own achievements and those of their peers
  • Look ahead to their future and think about their aspirations and goals

They will also hear poems and extracts from inspiring spoken-word artist and poet Sophia Thakur.

This event is a perfect end-of-year resource that could be used to fill those last available slots in the timetable before the end of term. You could use it during tutor time, within the PSHE curriculum or in any way that supports you and your colleagues.

The first 50 schools to sign up will receive one copy of each of Sophia’s books Wearing my mother’s heart and Somebody give this heart a pen to have in your school library. So don’t wait too long to sign up!

Who is this event for?

The event is aimed primarily at KS4/5 pupils but will also be accessible for KS3. The accompanying resources will be available for KS3, 4 and 5.
